Maroon 5 Live in SG!

Just watched Maroon 5 Live in Singapore! it was a last minute ticket buying decision. We searched for scalpers online and got us PATRON SEATS! for such a small budget, on the eve of the concert, this could not be happening!!! With a doubt, we arranged a meet up with the scalper to collect the ticket. We were wondering why she would sell it so cheap. On the second thought, $180 is such a small amount for a Singaporean.

The tickets amounted to $370/pair online for patron seats. Our budget is only $150/pair and we know we would just be listening to live Maroon 5 music and did not hope to see them up close.

Painted my nails blue for Maroon 5 :)

All brown for you Adam! We don't have any maroon so brown can do.hehehe

Iphone shot. Too bad I didnt bring a camera thinking its not allowed to take photos & videos!!! This was the best quality picture we took with an Iphone.

Hands all over world tour.. But we were surprised to hear them play a good number of their old songs like This Love, Sunday Morning, She Will be loved (which Adam dedicated to all the ladies!sweet..), Harder to Breath, The Sun & Secret, all from their Album "Songs About Jane".  My fave "Must Get Out" was out of their playlist that night though.

They sang only a few from their latest album "Hands All Over", which I delightfully played over and over again in the past days, prepping for their concert. I personally love the song "Never Gonna Leave this Bed" reminds me of how patient Art is on me, understanding my tantrums and heartaches.

Video taken from Art's Iphone. "You say go, it isn't working and I say No, it isnt perfect so I'll stay instead, Im never gonna leave this bed!"

It was a perfect concert date. I just wished i got the Tshirt Adam threw out after the event...

After 5 years..

Sometime 2005. I came across this group, who changed my life forever. Up to now, I still hold close to my heart all the things I learned from them. I will be forever grateful and eternally in debt to them for the 'enlightenment' and formation they gave me.

Jan, thank you for taking care of me back then and unhesitantly picking up the phone to call and invite me :)

God bless you and your upcoming endeavors!

Greed

Let me share our crazy Saturday night at the casino...
Photo taken right before we enter the casino. Where cameras are not allowed. Note the excitement in our eyes, looking forward to a lucky night.

It was an eve of a no-work day, and so we were allowed to stay uber late. Instead of going to a bar at 12am, we went straight to the casino, to play not blackjack nor pontoon, but slot machine..Wheel of Fortune.

Let me give you some introduction why we gambled that night..Rewind back to the weekend before, we were tagged along to the casino, as it was still closed during my visit last year. Watching our friend play pontoon (and spend thousands in matter of a night), enticed us to gamble a little bit. And so, we went to the slot machine and with my beginner's luck, bagged home winnings of SG$150. Not much for a pro gambler, but we were happy enough, as we felt the luck on our side. Our 'adrenaline luck' was cut short as we had to go home early for work the next day.."damn, we were winning" was actually our reaction..

And so as continuation, we bravely and crazily took a taxi at 12am, and asked driver to drop us to resorts world.. We never really gambled and in fact when we were in Macau, we just spent the night drinking at the bar right in the middle of the casino.

We swore to only spend our previous winnings of $150, all for fun. With a $50 bet, we started hitting the button, $4 a hit. Without understanding how things are computed, whether by $3 or $30, we just cant figure out how the machine sets the patterns and the corresponding winnings. All we wanted was to get 5 letters, w.h.e.e.l, to come out in one hit. This is the ticket to a free SPIN of the wheel and increase the winnings. Red strip will give you at least $500. Purple is the least of the four colors (other two are green and blue). We quickly spent the $150 and got frustrated that we lost the money in a flash. And so, we shelled out another $100 hoping to get back the $150. Out of the 250 / 4 chances of spelling the WHEEL and spin, we only got around 3 spins. Even though we managed to sum up the money to $300, by winning consecutive Wild Card patterns (multiple appearances of a wild card in one hit, the pattern of which still unknown to me). At winnings of  $50, total money of $300 in the machine, greedy we were, we decided to still go on, despite the negative feeling of luck leaving our side... Guess what. we lost all the money... So frustrated, we shelled out another $100. and as again we lost. Total of  $350. with meager income, this is huge money for us!! We were nearly giving up and almost decided to go home and charge to experience all the frustration. "if we only cashed out the $300, then we will go home happy and with $50 more, just enough to pay the taxi..and we can say we had fun.." almost the conclusion of our Saturday night.

We walked around, watched the other gamblers play pontoon, roulette and other table games. Almost tempted to try our luck with pontoon... In the end, we decided to gamble one last $100, in the hope to get back the $350. We rushed back to wheel of fortune...

Golden hour. At this time, we banked around 12 points in our resorts world membership card. Enough to get us  free meals from the restaurant. "at least we can get to eat for free after." Art cashed in the first $50. While quickly losing $20, i told him to cash in the other $50. Hit the button and got the SPIN quickly. We devised a strategy of switching machines once you get a free SPIN, because in our theory, the machine will not yield another SPIN quickly after you get a free one. So we shifted until we were losing down to $50 again. I was playing this time. We were hoping to get a free SPIN. I got one, then landed on a purple strip. Not enough to cover the losses. Another free spin. then Art was blabbing about " Nobody ever wins the red strip. its a hoax." Then loud ring... we won the RED Strip, ended up winning $750!!!  Play more. That's the instinct of a greedy soul. Realizing the events of the night, i instantly pushed "cash out". Argued to Art that its better to end the night happily than with regrets.

We ended the night using the points we earned and ate meals for free. It was indeed a fun and crazy night. In an instant, we were back to happy mode. Its amazing how fast things can change, and all out of your control. Well, the patterns were the ones out of our control.

Lesson learned : Greed is part of human nature. Manage to conquer it. Learn to be satisfied.

Smiles on our faces on our way home. :)

Wishing to blog about..

27th cake day

My First Burpday in SG. & as wife. with her husband. I left Philippines 31st of March just after my brother's bday(March 30th) and in time to celebrate my bday with Art.

As kids, our parents normally prepare 2-in-1 bday party for the two us. It seldom happens on my birthday itself. (being a good Ate i have no objections to that).  But this year I am jealous, being a sweet tooth that I am. He had 3 CAKES! ALL YUMMY CAKES!

Cake # 1. Red Ribbon Cookies & Cream. His all time fave flavor. From polvoron to chocolates to cakes, all cookies and cream. This one is from his special someone.

Cake numero dos! Dairy Queen KIT KAT ICE CREAM CAKE. My mom bought this as per his request. He wanted cookies & cream (as again!) but it was sold out. My mom is claiming its for the two of us though.

Cake 3. Estrel's Caramel cake. sooo heavenly, i even packed some with me to SG.
It so happened that his Bday is our Uncle's too. So my Tita prepared bbq, spaghetti & palabok.

My sporty Tita who's always in her Apron during her parties.

Btw, two days before the duo bday, i was admitted to St. Luke's hospital for an executive checkup.

& the Castor Oil. Sigh. I can still imagine the smell and taste. Id rather take Dulcolax! & the enema after! oh my.

& my cute bodyguard who looked after me all night. or vice versa?
& chowking dinner for a night.

Choco kiss Sampler. carrot cake, dayap cake & devil's food cake. triple yummy!
And so after that quick stopover to Philippines, in which i managed to get my executive check up done (2 days, 1 night in St. Luke's), eat cakes at choco kiss and do some shopping in divisoria,  i flew to SG.

Art treated us to Sakura Japanese Buffet Restaurant.
with Kuya here, enjoying all the sushi.

The eve of my birthday, i slept early and like a kid waiting for Santa Claus, Art was waiting for the clock to strike12  then woke me up to be the first to greet me on my birthday showing his gift & poster to me.

Sleepy me.with Art's gift.Wasn't what i exactly wishing for, but i wanted this one too.

Birthday Poster, card and colorsplash camera.

Morning of my birthday. Sweet Mcdo breakfast deliver from my friends in Ponape.

Took a jog after. Nice bridge at Chinese Garden.

Simple lunchtime with Art's housemates.

As again, thank you Artee. this time for my cake :)

The couple. All groomed for our special dinner :)

And a 'surprise' bday card from my ever dearest sister. Thank u! Art told me that she was about to send one. spoiler. but perfect enough to end my day.:)

And again another birthday cake the next morning. Thank you my dear Gbers.

All in all, it was a simple, sweet and memorable 27th bday for me. A first as a wife.
PS :  Art got me what i really wanted for my birthday. An instax camera. & below is my first print.
Our first monthsary together as husband and wife. :)

Last week as an Island Girl

Heartwarming..GB despedida on my last Wednesday in Pohnpei. Kinda expected that even if I asked these girls to skip the despedida and the drama, they will still prepare something for me. Only a few played badminton that night, but everyone but rhoan (sick) were present during the after badminton dinner in Cupids. We will never forget Ms. Shut up (random local girl) who got pissed because of all the cheers and merry making and because we sang her videoke song "Imagine"!Each girl said their farewells and when it was my turn, cant help but cry, thinking i will be leaving them behind.

Gbers with our final souvenir shot with the the extravagant Toyota FJ Cruiser. (natakpan na!)

Crazy 5 shots at the Bar counter. Ladies go gaga with these 5 continuous shots.

My top eats in Cupid's bar & restaurant. GB salad (will tell more about this) Ginger fish (right), Super Fresh Sahimi (middle bottom) which I only liked eating in Ponape and French fries.

GB Salad. Named after our group. Chicken Salad not on the menu but requested by Doreen. From then on it was known to be GB salad. You can only do that in Ponape. ;)

And then the sendoff party on Friday organized by my 4ty neighbors. Thank you thank you. Im missin 4ty kids every day.

Joined by my AFLIP and Gbers family. I miss these poised ladies. They are the most i regret to leave behind in Pohnpei.

Last breakfast at Joy Hotel. Beef ramen and tuna omelet. Im wishing for one everyday.
Joy Pancakes. Pancakes Japanese style. half of this will fill you for one whole day!

Well wishers at the airport. Thank you gals. I only spent 8 months but you made me feel like Ive stayed there in years.

Tearful Goodbyes. I hate this photo. As i look at it now, tears well up my eyes. I miss you my dear friend. I miss you all of you in Pohnpei.

I know I just let a huge opportunity in Pohnpei slip from my grasp just to be with my husband, jobless and maybe to master the art of housewifery. I know that it could be the biggest opportunity of my life  but as I depart this Paradise Island, my heart is breaking and into pieces not because of the career i am leaving behind but because of the true friends who cared, loved  and made me laugh, who were the reason why I got through my stormy 2010. My dear Pohnpei friends, thank you will never be enough to show how grateful I am to have chosen to cross the road to Pohnpei. You were the best thing that ever happened to me in Ponape. rest assured that I will keep in touch and be your friend in Pinas man or SG :) Until we meet again.

XOXO,
Anne
