Penang Cruise (Part 1)

AS warned by somebody, " you'll enjoy penang food than its beaches". True enough we did. Please be warned too that this blog is a "drool". (Pardon my low quality photos! I know i need to get a new "state-of-the-art" camera, but just can't let go of my hard earned, looks-like-slr-but-actually-a-point-&-shoot cam)

And so, I would say there are two things that highlighted our Penang trip.

1. Food. Indonesia, Malay, Chinese and Indian are the influences of an authentic Penang food. We were always stuffed the whole trip. Hawker centers (food courts) are everywhere!

Red bean Pao. Sweet and thick red bean filling.

Yo Shao Pao (at least it was how they pronounced it). Egg+ butter inside.

Chinese (shanghai style i guess) shrimp dumplings

Orangy iced milk tea. His favorite.

SG$1.60 Fried Seafood Noodle. I didn't like this that much or maybe they just cooked it too salty at that time. Who cares it's cheap!

Georgetown Coffee Restaurant's version of Chicken Curry. Best I've tasted! The creaminess makes you forget it's a curry, and therefore it's also cup of coconut fat.

Char Kway Teow. Fried seafood noodles. Superb. I never tasted this yet here in SG, but Im so glad I tried it in Penang. This made me realize i love fried noodles!

Old Town Coffee Restaurant's Chicken Curry (again) with roti, Spring rolls and Kaya toast. Not to mention the Iced Penang white coffee!
Penang White Coffee. Thick and frothy, I can compare it to a Frappucino. Its not really white as the name implies, but you can check out here why it was called as such. All i'm sure of is that it is mixed with condensed milk giving it a sweet taste. Vietnam's cà phê sữa đa uses the same milk to complement the strong taste of their coffee.

Food Fusion on a plate. Chinese noodles, Pandan coconut rice, Chicken Rendang, Sausages, Chicken Curry. All flushed down to my pipe by Guava Juice! Chicken Rendang is authentic to Indonesians, and is a staple food to Malaysia and even here in Singapore.

Char kway teow and mee goreng (the nastier noodles). + Coconut shake! I guess the tomato/ketchup/chilli gives mee goreng its deep reddish and super spicy taste.

Western food from the cruise ship. hihihi It was part of the package so no choice on this one.

We both have a sweet tooth!

Satay/Sate. This some sort of bbq-ed meat, a Malay food.

Sitigun's Tiramisu cake. Being a fan of underground casual cafe, we took time to visit one in Penang.

Sitigun's version of nutty Cinnamon Roll. Best with a cup of hot white coffee.

Sitigun's ambiance. Parking slots for bikers inside the cafe, cool!

Old Town  Restaurant's Steamed Chicken with rice.I hope the reinvent this to a greaseless and guiltless version.

Of course our photo souvenir in each restaurant!
at a hawker food center.

at Batu Ferringi with Leah!

 Georgetown Coffee Rstaurant.

Hawker food center.

Ryan Gourmet, Malay-Thai food fusion.

Green door to Sitigun!

 Old Town Coffee Restaurant.

And that my friends, is the reason why we gained more after our trip..

To be continued..... (Part 2. The Adventure Cruise!)
