I heart IKEA

We just moved in to a new apartment and slowly we are settling in comfortably! With this 'new' apartment, comes new furniture. Just when we finished arranging everything, we realized we had a lot of Ikea stuff in use!

Ikea is furniture line which originated from Sweden. For me, it is functional, cheap and modern. I particularly like the do-it-yourself furniture. No need to scold your husbands for not being around to help.

Like this SG$99 bed frame, which I never thought i could assemble all by my self.

Into this!took me around 3 hours to make it stand and proud! I also assembled a matching bedside table.

1 hour to account for mini-tools-shopping. Take note, i even tried to use the nail pusher. :)

Next was the Ikea desk. by this time, i was exhausted & made mistakes that i need to dismantle everything twice & assemble them back correctly!

The easiest to assemble! I pieced a white one  in my room back in the Philippines :)

Voila! Sheets, mattress, hampers, curtains, storage boxes, even the landlord's light! all shouting out Ikea. Sorry, we can't help it. WE just heart Ikea so much that its the first place we can think of when it comes to household needs. I certainly know that most women do.

Even our kitchen is starting to be crowded with Ikea products!

Just when we needed it. Thanks to whomever thought of this cute bottle, strong enough to hold a newly boiled drinking water for $1.50?Clap Clap! They are even selling a microwave lid so the food won't mess up the machine! Genius!

My list could go on. Even during our house renovation in the Philippines, I took time to visit Ikea showrooms and asked for a brochure. The whole store is one-stop shop for all your home needs. It's a pity we don't have one back home. The same reason why I have to check in Ikea products with my luggage every time I travel.

Again, for functionality, reasonable price, sleek and style, I HEART IKEA. :)

What's Cooking?

My Mom always tells me to start learning how to cook for my husband. I always say its easy and i can do it when i get there. Now that I am a housewife, I admit it is not easy. It takes TRIALS!

1. CPA. Before Art said "delisyoso" to my Chicken-pork adobo, I had at least 10 tries (tracing back to 2008 when I was forced to cook adobo in place where I cannot find one). & just recently, I remembered how my mom does her adobo! Fry everything before cooking with the sauce :) This is my most successful recipe by far.

2. Adobong Pusit. I only tried to cook it twice. First one, it tastes exactly the way my Mom does it, but less in black color. (guess i need more Squid ink for this). & The last is so sour. =( Will try this again one of these days.

3. Paksiw na Bangus. This is quite easy. I only tried to do it once. Art said it was ok. But next time put some more vinegar.heheheh. This is on my menu this week.

4. Siningang na Bangus/Pork. Easiest to cook. Thanks to instant Sinigang Mix. I have to try the fresh tamarind for a challenge.

5.Chicken Alfredo/ Seafood Pesto / Spaghetti. All very easy to cook and so flexible that you can vary the ingredients suiting your taste buds.

6. Fried Chicken/Pork/Fish/ Potato. First on my list that i proudly mastered. :)

Today I will prepare Chicken Spread. Wish me luck on this easy one.

Will post photos soon!

So much in a Month

I've been in SG for a month now and too much activities on weekends with Art. I guess we are patching up the years we're apart and doing what we should have done together --sports, shopping, outdoors. ADVENTURE that is my Inspiration word. It somehow defines me as a person, not entirely though. There are  lazy couch potato days too.I sometimes wish to start working soon, but oftentimes, I realize that i should treasure every no-work day i have. Feeling guilty though that I am spending all my husband's money for the activities (& shopping) Ive been doing. ;) Oh well, that's love! We've done so many things together in one month and could not believe that we are together now!

Singapore Paddle Club. Art saw me paddle!! I attended two rookie sessions by now, and 2 more to be able to join the club! I skipped the swim test as I don't really have that high endurance to tread in deep waters. I might as well float my way to the shore!hihihih  The activity is sooooo tiring cause you have to paddle all around Tanjong beach at mid day! EXHAUSTING will be the term. I love the sun! That's one thing I've enjoyed in Pohnpei. But to do a sport like this at 1pm in Singapore is like you accepted to get a heat stroke! Art even got a tan just by sitting on a shade near the beach!

Haircut day. Normally Art gets his haircut done on his own. He just sometimes calls me after to share the disaster he got from the hairdresser. VANITY is quite our common character.

Theaters/Movies/Concerts.Lion King @ Marina Bay Sands Theater. This time we get to watch shows with each other. Not with somebody else ;)  SWEET.

List could go on. Badminton, dinners, movies, even doing our laundry together.  (oh btw we watched Thor & FF 5 in day!) It is bliss.. Even if he is washing the dishes, and i am assembling the newly bought electric fan! ;)
